Entrevista con Witness Raphael representante de Tanzania en la Segunda Edición de Miss Wheelchair World

1 In your own words , who is Witness ?

Witness she's a beautiful girl, kindness , charming but despite all witness she's a very good giver to people who in need because of the pure heart God bless her and that's why witness she decided all of her life she choose to fight about right of the people who living with disability in her aim of one day everything to look good to everyone and enjoying the life as much as he/she want including people living with disability and this is the reason make her study social work..and spend some of time working with disability issue to ensure their life

2 What meaning does International Women's Day have for you?

International day of women for me I took or address as the day women all over the world including woman living with disability celebrate their achievement in every sector in how far they came and the level they reach as I said in every sector Ej: in leadership, Politics Business etc For example in our country here TANZANIA now our president is woman her name mama Samia Suluhu Hassan so we see how big step we made ... So it's all about celebration, achievement and to inspire other women especially young girl that's they can be wherever they want to be in future

3 Which are the institutions that your country have to combat discrimination and protection of human rights?

LHRC and LSF are among the institutions that protect human rights and and advocate against discriminations. Disabilities based organization such as SHIVYAWATA and other NGOs like Her-Ability Foundation they are also advocating against discrimination and create awareness on inclusion.

4 How would you rate the conditions of accessibility and labor inclusion in your country?

Labor inclusion in Tanzania for People with disabilities is still low despite the suggested amendment of the law that, every office should ensure that at least 3% of their employees include workers with disabilities and this is to reduce the problem of poverty and discrimination among people with disabilities. but many offices are not following the law and on other side too most people with disabilities do not have the qualifications needed for the job.

5 In your opinion, what are the most significant problems faced by women with disabilities in your country?

Discrimination , financial problem and education about sexual reproductive health (a) Discrimination it's a big problem that's women living with disability in my country they faced a lot of discrimination from the society they are living and sometimes even from their family in how they look, and define each and everything , for example when they find out about their relationship love affair most they think its either because of moneBiy or there's a something else we don't know and even in hospital when a woman with disability get pregnant and goes hospital for starting clinic and sometimes even a day she go for giving birth to a child nurse starting complaining and sometimes laugh for saying man doesn't have mercy for pregnant disability women (b) financial problem this is the another problem women living with disability faced in my country because most they aren't financial stable because they didn't get a chance to get education and sometimes even when they try to do some business capital became a problem and even to stand with the business and sometimes because of the environments not being friend for them to do their business or what they are doing (c) Education about sexual reproductive health it's another problem mostly they don't have education about that's and that's make them to have luck of that's information and sometimes they became affected with disease like HIV and sometimes to get pregnant not for the time was wanted And when it's come with albinism issues, yes some years a go albinism people became of victims by killing with bad people who was believe in some witchcraft that's if you will have albinism organic either hand's, foot, wherever you will be succed especially in mineral

6 In your opinion, what can we do as a society to generate a world more attached to diversity and inclusion?

As a society what we can do is to (a) provide awareness to society on importance of diversity and inclusion (b). To have supportive school curriculum which helping in developing a knowledge on diversity and inclusion (C) Providing of positive parenting skills to parents because these are first or primary teacher to children on insuring understanding of diversity and inclusion (D) governments support to non government organizations these deals kn issues of inclusion (C). To have friendly environment which recognize the diversity and inclusion in society

7 In your Instagram you describe yourself as an social worker.. ¿What kind off activities do you realize?

In my Instagram account I described my self as a social worker first because it's my professional am proud with and I feel proud because some how kind it relate with me with the people I deal with because social worker is the professional person who work in helping people with their problem how to deal with or to copy with the situation (b) To imporve peoples’ life by provide a psychosocial support the helping them to resilience Protecting people from harm

8 What does the female empowernent means to you ?

Female empowerment are all system, process and initiatives proposed with the aim to insure development of a female and liberation in all aspect of life including economic, social, political, and other discrimination and oppression situations

9 Do you think that the world in general has given enough protection to people with disabilities during the pandemic?

NO.. the world has not yet provide enough and equal protection to this special groups of people including people with disabilities eventually during pandemics, it is sad to say that, world has not yet recognize that we need a specific attention.. Mostly of infrastructures are not made friendly to people with disabilities even they are made to be used within a community where these groups are located.

Therefore harms much the group. As now while the whole world fights with COVID 19., But steel mostly of infrastructures are not made to be used by people with disabilities. Washing hands that their openes are located on feet are not able to be used by clipplade people Many people in Africa emigrate to Europe looking for a better future...

10 What message would you offer to European governments so that they protect the human rights of migrants?

To European government.. I appreciate for measure has been taken towards the war combating migrants whose are contributing to the rise of terrorism. But the measure are too harsh that are also violating human rights. A situation harms and tends to divide the union of their people.. My massage to America is to see and evaluate them selves for their measures. By then putting laws and regulations which are suitable for migrants can impress the world view towards them.

11 What message do you give to the other girls who will be sharing this experience with you?

Despite a number of challenges that girls face mostly to those with age of adolescent. But they have a platform where they can find absolutely destination of their challenges. Things might come late but nothing to change their life but themselves. empowering, confidence, knowledge, struggling are mostly important tools during their battle, they shouldn't be afraid to fight..because there is no winning without fightings

12 What do you expect from Mexico as the host country?

To treat us we'll ,all girls to be treated equal with out looking where she coming from either county or family, skin color and as a country me I espect people from the society of Mexico will change because of this event .And other things I espect despite competition we will get a time to have fun , enjoy and create a good memory

13 Do you dream with the crown?

What would it mean for you to obtain it and what responsibility would it bring? .Yes I dream about the crown (a) I will use it to impower people with disability and educate the world that we are capable of doing bigger things like others (b) It's will also trigger in changes in societies like Africa (eg: my country TANZANIA) on how they think of people who living with disability

14 In your opinion, are all the participating girls winners?

Yes all participating girls are winner because of the struggling they struggle to get that Chance ,and they present their country it's a big achievement of a person so they're winner for me

15 What message do you give to your family and loved ones regarding your participation in Miss Wheelchair World?

They should not look on disability but ability . Also i give mesaage that's every person can do anything she want or can be anyone as his her wish as long as she believe in his/her self . (To Be confident) I have the opportunity to watch that the tanzanian television realize one video about Miss Wheelchair World, Congrats for it!

16 Do you thing the mass media in Tanzania dedicate enouhgt space to disability persons?

I can't say yes or no but i see some changes so media are trying but more energy is needed

17Any message that you offer to the Mexican people that will receive you in October in Rosarito Baja California?

They should espect a lot from TANZANIAN girl who dedicate her all life to fight in changing perception of people about people who are living with disability, She have a lot of things to share with girls and other who will be there even if the crown will not be mine but I will memorable to all people who will get a time to see and spend time with me by the time I will be in Mexico Thank you so much!
